Peace Week 2007
Resolved to End War
and Promote Peace
Let it be resolved...

A groundswell of support is building throughout this nation and the world. As the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq is upon us, let us resolve ourselves to end this war, bring home the troops, and promote the common good of humankind.

Take the sample resolution  below to the governing body in your state, city, town, local school district, or university and declare it PEACE WEEK! Strongly encourage your student government representatives, faculty, local unions, and local activists to join this grassroots movement to end the war!

Resolution for Peace

Whereas, March 20th marks the 4th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq;

Whereas, the intervention in Iraq was undertaken with false and misleading information;

Whereas, the congress and the administration has recently backed a "surge," sending an additional 21,500 combat troops to Iraq;

Whereas, the best way to support the troops is to bring them home safely;

Whereas, congress and the citizens of the United States have voiced overwhelming opposition to the War in Iraq;

Whereas, students and families of Purdue University Calumet have been affected by this war and the troop surge;

Therefore, let it be resolved that in order to initiate discussion about the Iraq War on the Purdue University Calumet Campus, March 19th - 23rd of 2007 will be deemed "Peace Week," where students will be encouraged to ask faculty to have discussions, where appropriate, about the War in Iraq in the classroom, and students and student groups are encouraged to hold other events to foster discussions and the sharing of information about the U.S. war in Iraq.
